Vocational Training and Skills Development

At UNEH, we believe in empowering youth and women with practical skills that lead to meaningful, sustainable livelihoods. Our Vocational Training and Skills Development program is designed to provide hands-on training, resources, and mentorship in a variety of trades and small business skills, helping participants gain confidence and economic independence. Through this program, we foster self-reliance and equip individuals with the tools they need to build a brighter future.

Program Highlights

  • Skills Training in High-Demand Trades: We offer training in trades such as tailoring, carpentry, shoemaking, agriculture, hairdressing, and soap-making. These skills are carefully selected based on local market needs, ensuring that participants acquire practical knowledge and can find employment or start their own businesses.

  • Entrepreneurship and Business Planning: Participants learn how to develop and manage their own businesses. Our program covers essential topics like budgeting, business planning, marketing, and customer service. This knowledge prepares them not only to start their ventures but also to thrive in the competitive market.

  • Material and Financial Empowerment: We provide start-up kits, tools, and small grants to help participants launch their businesses upon completion of the training. This initial support gives them the resources they need to overcome financial barriers and turn their new skills into sustainable income streams.

  • Soft Skills and Personal Development: In addition to technical skills, our program emphasizes the development of soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving. These skills are essential in any workplace and help participants navigate their careers confidently.

  • Ongoing Mentorship and Support: We understand that the transition to self-employment or a new job can be challenging. Our mentors provide continued support, guidance, and advice, helping participants build networks, overcome obstacles, and grow their businesses or careers over time.

  • Community Engagement and Empowerment: By involving community members and local businesses, we create a network of support for participants and foster a culture of local entrepreneurship. This approach not only benefits individuals but also strengthens the broader community by boosting local economic development.

Through our Vocational Training and Skills Development program, UNEH empowers individuals to take charge of their futures. By equipping youth and women with practical skills, confidence, and financial independence, we create opportunities for lasting change and help build a resilient, thriving community.
